For the most part of my liaison with OB Wear I was scaling up patterns for plus sizes, often this was drawn up from a block or an existing pattern. This was helpful for me over the summer as it gave me practice on an activity that I wasn’t strongest in; it soon became second nature. Enlarging patterns was an aspect that I didn’t have much prior knowledge to before the start of first year. The shaping of Milly’s garments made this easier as most of her patterns are zero waste or near enough, the pieces were rectangular.
The brand’s ethos, using natural fibres, manufacturing multifunctional and zero waste apparel to produce unisex clothing influenced my choices for both my Compashion and Imperfect Beauty projects. It was a very enjoyable and valuable experience that
has encouraged me to start forming a network of professional creative practitioners.
